Prodigal Son (Of A Bitch)?

A-Rod and the Yankees are at the negotiating table, and blatantly absent is Scott Boras. A-Rod is using a third party, with Boras as am advisor. Boras isn't even in the room.

If he can pin this all on his long-time agent, A-Rod could come back to the Yanks looking like a prodigal son. He seems to have the Steinbrenners convinced that he wants to be a Yankee, conveniently after opting-out of his contract and testing the free agent market, realizing he had a thin market of bidders and coming back with his tail between his legs, putting the blame on big bad Boras. The risk would be worth it - the pair could afford to lose a little if they couldn't get $350 million (the sub-prime fiasco has apparently made its way to A-Rod's wallet). The question is, how much of a factor in the decision to opt-out was Boras and how much was A-Rod?

All I can say is this - it's not too late to keep an eye on Mike Lowell.
